“The Future is Uncertain” evening presented three scenarios for possible futures of Alkantara. Scenario 1: venue – guide tour through Alkantara’s building in 2019, by Sasa Asentic and Pedro Penim.
Scenario 2: project based organisation – with 7 timeframes from 2007 until 2019, by Bojana Cvejic and Gustavo Ciriaco.
Scenario 3: platform for thinking – the press conference on 30 November 2019, the day when the building has been acquired from the city, by Ana Dzokic and Claudia Jardim.
Presentation of the research on Alkantara and Dancas na cidade: film by Bojana Cvejic, Claudia Jardim and Federica Porello and a photographic research on more then 70 spaces in Lisbon used by Alkantara from 1993-2007, by Ana Dzokic, Marc Neelen and Pedro Penim.

under the theme “the future is uncertain”, nuno rebelo performed a short audiovisual concert called “it will be a question of…”
Looking back from 2019 into the present date (2007) as our past, the artists working within the project IT WILL BE WHAT WE MAKE IT will present a small-scale future study on the possible scenarios for Alkantara.
Alkantara (the former Danças na cidade), moving into a space given by the city of Lisbon, is an event that will determine a change in the course of the development of this organization. Taking for its motto Immanuel Wallerstein’s – “Future is uncertain because it will be what we make it” – this investigation deploys some methods of futurology to devise alternative possible, probable or preferable/desirable futures for Alkantara.

The admission requires a small effort: bring a book, a CD or a DVD you think Alkantara’s library+mediatheque should have.
